Last month we featured a spotlight on the Canadian based label Wings + Horns at their Vancouver boutique. This month we visit their sister company just up the road, a sportswear brand touted for it's quality garments and manufacturing, Reigning Champ. What originally began as an e-commerce company for well constructed athletic and leisure garments, now has expanded to a new brick and mortar on a busy retail strip in the famous Kitsilano neighborhood.

The new store front is a stark contrast to their sister company. When you enter, you might think you are in a turkish bath house, rather than a retail boutique. High white-tiled walls cascade from the ceiling into benches displaying their current Asics release. The latest brand collaboration is one of many Reigning Champ has done in past years. The new Asics x RC collection features a neutral color pallet with a variety of T-shirt cuts, cotton sweatshirts and bottoms, and even two colorways of the iconic GEL Lyte III's in a black and gray scale suede upper. Plush fabrics are used throughout the line as modern silhouettes are adapted into traditional sports attire. Some of the other highlights in the shop included the sports themed Mitchell & Ness ALL STAR pieces. The recognizable East vs West design aesthetic, drives the co-branded emblems and jacket embroideries over contrasting white (west) and black (east) garments.

Reigning Champ has been producing garments locally in Canada since it's inception to allow its designers the highest level of quality and detail. This ability to continuously design and develop original fabrics, as well as the continuous flood of collaborative efforts, has led Reigning Champ to the front of the race in the popular world of athleisure wear. Keep an eye out for the Canadian brand’s upcoming collaborations with the likes of Adidas and more.
